Tripod tables became popular about 1750 in England and America. This one from the Moravian community of Salem in North Carolina is made of red maple. It features an elliptical tilting top supported by a much prettier turned pedestal than sketch portrays. 1815. H.29, Top 17 1/2 x 26 1/4. This piece is part of the Old Salem Collection in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
